Amy Nagy

Amy is a seasoned professional in development, project financing and brokerage. Assets in which Amy has offered her expertise include multifamily, mixed-use, preservation, commercial and self-storage. She has the proven capability to navigate complex transactions, rigorous entitlement and municipal approvals, and excels in front-facing community relations work. Her Instagram profile states that the loves statistics, spreadsheets and the art of the deal … and that sums it up pretty well. She loves economics and the time she spends at University at Buffalo where she instructs on market study and feasibility.

Free time? Not much, but in it she enjoys spending time watching youth sports, trying to make time for exercise and walking her dogs Larry and Lola.

Margaret Hamilton Winship

Maggie has over a decade of experience in commercial real estate, economic development, and real estate finance and has a natural talent for connecting the dots in real estate. Most recently, Maggie Hamilton Winship served as a Community Capital Investments Officer for LISC NY, which included originating, underwriting and closing loans, providing real estate technical assistance to community partners, and managing other capital deployment for community initiatives. Previously, Maggie served for 6 years as Director of the Town of Amherst & Village of Williamsville's Economic Development office, overseeing all special projects, economic development initiatives, real estate transactions, PILOT Increment Financing, and grant funding opportunities.

As a licensed Real Estate Broker in NYS, she has a decade of experience coordinating real estate transactions in both the public and private sector. Maggie founded Buildup Buffalo, a women-owned boutique brokerage specializing in assisting nonprofits and small businesses with their real estate endeavors.

 
 
 

Alex Opiel

A Buffalo native, Alex serves as a licensed real estate salesperson and senior project manager in the real estate development industry, and has managed millions of dollars in residential and commercial construction projects. Her management experience is broad, ranging from hospitals and luxury multifamily projects, to small-scale development and mixed-use buildings, to name only a few. She has directed projects for entities such as National Grid, The State of New York, University at Buffalo, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, US Bank, and ECMC, and has worked for general contractors, corporations, and large and small-scale developers. With experience in historic preservation, sustainable development, and property management, Alex is a one-stop-shop for helping clients understand the full scope and details involved in challenging development projects

 

Michael Demarco

Michael is a NYS Licensed Real Estate Salesperson has worked in inclusive economic development for the past decade, spending the majority of that time as the Executive Director of the 42nd Avenue Neighborhood Prosperity Network District in Portland, Oregon - one of the first community-led Tax Increment Financing Districts in the United States. Michael has significant experience implementing commercial property programs, including strategic property acquisition, adaptive building reuse, lease negotiations/analysis, tenant improvements, and property management, amongst others. He has fostered community entrepreneurship programs including small business incubators, a multicultural dance studio, and a community farmers market. In addition to building and directly managing numerous business spaces for under-served community members, Most importantly, Michael holds that genuine relationship-building across differences is the most essential part of the equitable sharing of social capital, and thus economic opportunity. Michael brings his economic development lens in working with clients who need to acquire or divest property as part of their overall redevelopment strategies. For any client work requiring cross collaboration amongst community stakeholder groups, non-governmental organizations and municipalities, Michael is an seasoned leader.

Essence Sweat

Essence Sweat, a NYS licensed real estate sales person has 20 years of business development experience with a specialization in private and grant-based commercial development. Through her efforts, Essence has been able to support economic mobility and wealth generation for underserved developers and entrepreneurs. Essence is the founder of the East Buffalo Development Corporation (EBDC). Prior to the formation of the EBDC, Essence facilitated New York State commercial and mix-use property renovation grant programs, including the New York Main Streets program, Buffalo Main Street Initiative programs, and Empire State Development’s East Side Commercial Districts program. As a private consultant Essence has provided over 100 entrepreneurs with business development and marketing design services; and has secured more than 40M for her clients. Essence graduated from Howard University with a degree in Business Administration and Finance.
